Walden History

The Walden library houses a small uncatalogued local history collection that can be accessed by appointment only. Included in this collection are some reference titles about Walden and its surrounding communities, some yearbooks and other documents, and the Citizen Herald newspaper on CD-ROM.

To make an appointment, please call (845) 778-7621, or email wal@rcls.org. Please note that the Citizen Herald CD-ROMs are not searchable by keyword, only by date. We are not able to search for names, places, events, etc. by name.

In addition, digital content of the Citizen Herald newspaper from 1926 to 1936 can be accessed through the library's Web site. To search the Citizen Herald database, click here.

For more information regarding local history beyond the library's collection, please visit the

Jacob T. Walden House website
